Directions to Palazzo Terranova from Florence (1.5 hours)
Take the A1 and head south direction Roma. Take the Monte San Savino exit from the superstrada and after going through the toll booth, turn right at the stop sign, direction Castiglion Fiorentino. Continue along this road through Badicorte and turn left at the next stop sign. Follow signs for Castiglion Fiorentino, going straight through traffic lights. At the next stop sign, turn right onto the SS71 direction Cortona and Perugia.
You will arrive at Castiglion Fiorentino - continue going straight through two sets of traffic lights. After a right-hand bend in the road, you'll come to a third set of traffic lights - turn left following signs for Città di Castello and Polvano.From here keep following signs for Pieve di Chio, Polvano and Città di Castello. The road takes you over a few canals and then starts winding up the hills for about 24kms. There are not any towns until you descend into the next valley, where you will pass through Volterrano and Morra before arriving in Ronti. Ronti is very small so keep your eyes open!! Slow down when you see the sign indicating that you have arrived in Ronti.
Take the first small road to the left and then turn left again at the end of this road. Almost straight away, you will need to take a sharp turn to the right at a large tree. You are now on a dirt road which you follow for 2kms. It is steep and bumpy in parts but keep going slowly. You will catch a glimpse of the Palazzo through the trees. Even when you think you're not on the right road, keep going! The driveway is lined with cypress pine trees and sweeps around to the left of the house before arriving at the front door.
Directions to Palazzo Terranova from Rome (2.5 hours)
From Rome head north towards the ring road (tangenziale) and follow signs for the A1 direction to Firenze. This is 37kms from Fiumicino. Take exit 9-10 for Firenze and continue in the direction for Orte - this is 64kms and takes 35mins. Take the exit at Orte and get onto the E45, direction Perugia and Cesena. Continue along the E45 always direction Cesena and take the exit for Promano - this is after 135kms and takes 1hr15mins.
Follow signs for Città di Castello, passing through Cinquemiglia. Turn left at the first roundabout, direction Trestina, and continue along, turning right at the next roundabout. After this you will arrive at a sign announcing you are in Trestina. Take the middle road of a three way intersection in the direction of Morra. This road takes you through Bivio Lugnano and Badia Petroia to arrive in Ronti and takes about 10 minutes. Ronti is very small so keep your eyes open!! Slow down when you see the sign indicating that you have arrived in Ronti.
Take the small road to the right where there is a statue of the Madonna. At the end of this road turn left and then take the next sharp turn right at the large tree. Directions to Palazzo Terranova from Perugia (30 minutes)
When leaving the airport, turn right at the airport entrance. At the next T-intersection, turn right. This road takes you through the little town of Sant Egidio; you go up a steep hill and then down again. Follow this road and all directions to the E45. When you arrive at the on-ramp for E45, take the direction Cesena (north). You will be on this road for approx. 35mins before you take the exit PROMANO. Pass through Cinquemiglia. Turn left at the roundabout, direction TRESTINA. On arrival in TRESTINA there is a three-way intersection; take the middle road, direction MORRA. This road takes you through Bivio Lugnano and Badia Petroia to arrive in RONTI. (Approx.10mins)
RONTI is quite small…we’re on top of the hill to your right. There is a Madonna statue on your right – take this road. Drive through the village, turning left at a T-intersection. Continue and drive over a little bridge. Turn right at a big oak tree. This is the dirt road that you follow for 2.2 kms. It’s steep in parts and windy, but keep going! You will go through a collection of ruined houses – keep going straight through! We’ll see you at the top when you get here!
